Lauren Christopher

The undeniable mascot for badass girl style, Lauren never fails to stun — whether she is wearing one of perfectly distressed vintage band t-shirts or a one-of-a-kind designer get up from the recent past — she always pair it with the perfect companions: thick-lined eyes and a black leather jacket.

What made you start wearing eyeliner?

My mom used to model and I remember loving her photos with a heavy eyeliner. I had an older half sister that had a pretty avant-garde style typical of the 80s growing up. I think the combination of the two and the encouragement of self expression growing up inspired me to start experimenting at a very early age with makeup. Dale Bozzio of Missing Persons was a family friend that I used to admire and Siouxsie.

Do you always wear the same style or do you experiment with different looks?

I used to wear a lot more makeup when I was working as a makeup artist but then I realized that makeup should enhance your natural features and not be a mask to hide behind.

Who are your eyeliner icons?

Brigitte Bardot, Nina Hagen, Twiggy, Siouxsie, Mom.

What are your favorite products and what else completes your look?

I have been wearing the Jill Stuart gel eyeliner in Black Cat.

Any tips for putting it on… or taking it off?

More is not less and use a waterproof makeup remover each night.

Makeup should ENHANCE your natural features and NOT BE A MASK to hide behind.

Do you have different day and night looks?

I like to stall during the day and eventually fix myself up.

Why do you wear eyeliner?

Vanity.
